MSCI buys climate risk data startup First Street for $120 million in cash

The index provider is paying $120 million upfront, plus possible earnouts, for a company that models flood, wildfire, wind and heat damage for more than 2 billion buildings and found that firms grew 6.5 times as likely to issue profit warnings after extreme weather.
