EXL acquires Aimpoint Digital, adding about 250 AI engineers and consultants

EXL, the Nasdaq-listed data and AI services company, has acquired Aimpoint Digital, a data and AI consulting and platform engineering firm. EXL announced the deal on November 5, 2026, in a release distributed by GlobeNewswire with a New York dateline.

Financial terms were not disclosed. The deal brings about 250 AI engineers, platform architects, analytics consultants, decision scientists and AI strategists into EXL. Aimpoint's team is joining EXL, but the release did not describe leadership changes, whether the Aimpoint name will continue or how the business will be integrated.

What Aimpoint built

Aimpoint Digital was founded in 2017, according to the company's own website, which says it passed 200 employees in 2026. It lists offices in Atlanta and Boston in the United States, London and Medellín, Colombia.

The firm designs, builds and runs enterprise AI and modern data systems. In practice that means taking companies whose data is spread across disconnected systems and consolidating it into platforms that can support AI applications, then sending its own strategists and engineers to work alongside client teams. EXL said Aimpoint is known for moving client workloads onto major data and AI platforms quickly.

"Forward-deployed" engineers are staff who work inside a client's organization rather than handing over software from a distance. Aimpoint's own description of its mission is to turn clients' AI plans into systems running in production, and EXL said that ability to put people on site was central to the deal.

Aimpoint has built its practice around partnerships with Anthropic, Databricks and Snowflake. The release did not name any of its clients.

Why EXL is buying

EXL, founded in 1999 and headquartered in New York, describes itself as a global data and AI company with more than 74,000 employees across six continents. Its clients work in insurance, healthcare, banking and capital markets, retail, communications and media, and energy and infrastructure.

The company said the acquisition is aimed at a common problem for large organizations: AI projects that work as pilots but never reach production. Adding Aimpoint's forward-deployed staff is meant to let EXL take on more of that work directly and to act as a single partner for clients across the whole life of an AI project, from strategy and data platforms to running AI systems day to day.

Rohit Kapoor, EXL's chairman and chief executive, said clients wanted a partner able to move them from ambition to measurable results at enterprise scale. Ben Yopp, Aimpoint's chief executive and co-founder, said joining EXL would let the firm do similar work on a much larger scale.

A second AI deal for EXL

Aimpoint is the second AI-focused company EXL has added recently. It previously acquired iMerit, which the release described as a leader in AI model training, evaluation and reinforcement learning. EXL said iMerit and Aimpoint together extend the range of help it can give clients, from early strategy through to managed AI operations.

The two deals point EXL in slightly different directions. iMerit works on the data and evaluation that go into building AI models, while Aimpoint works on the enterprise side, connecting company data to those models and putting applications into use.

The founders and ownership

Yopp is named in the release as Aimpoint's chief executive and co-founder. The release did not name other founders, and neither company disclosed whether Aimpoint had raised outside venture funding or who owned it before the sale.

EXL did not disclose Aimpoint's revenue or say how the purchase was paid for. It also did not say what will happen to Aimpoint's partner relationships with Anthropic, Databricks and Snowflake, though the release presented that expertise as one of the main reasons for the deal.

The release also did not say whether Aimpoint's offices in Atlanta, Boston, London and Medellín will remain open under EXL, or whether existing Aimpoint clients will be moved onto EXL contracts.
