MyDearest, a Tokyo studio known for virtual reality games, has bought all the shares of moze, a Roblox game studio also based in Tokyo. The companies announced the deal on October 16, 2026, the day it took effect, and moze is now a wholly owned subsidiary. The price was not disclosed.

MyDearest plans to merge moze into itself in an absorption-type merger. The announcement gave no timeline for that step.

moze's founder and chief executive, Kazutaka Yokoi, stepped down from the role on the effective date and will help with the transition. His co-founder Shogo Matsusako, previously chief technology officer and a director, became chief executive. The studio's "moze studio" brand continues under Matsusako.

What moze built

moze was founded on September 15, 2023 and is based in the Nihonbashi district of Tokyo. It plans, develops and runs games, virtual spaces and avatar items on Roblox, the online platform where users play games made by other users. Its work includes its own titles and contract or co-development projects for companies and rights holders.

According to the announcement, moze's games, including its original title Troll Escalator Tower, have passed 20 million cumulative plays, and all the content it has worked on has passed 50 million. The company has attended the Roblox Developers Conference three times. Mogura VR News, which reported the deal, also named a branded game it made with the snack maker Calbee, Jagariko Hide and Seek: Find the Giraffes!

Why MyDearest is buying

MyDearest was founded on April 7, 2016 and is led by chief executive Kento Kishigami. It makes VR games for young players around the world, among them Crowbar Climber, SASUKE VR and a VR version of the Japanese game The Exit 8, and runs a business unit that advises companies and government bodies on XR and metaverse projects. In January 2026 it announced a business integration with Mogura, the media company.

Kishigami said Roblox is becoming the place where Generation Alpha, the children born from the early 2010s onward, first meets games globally. Mogura cited Roblox's second-quarter 2026 figure of about 123 million daily users. MyDearest also released The Exit 8 for Roblox in September 2025, which Mogura said has passed 10 million visits.

MyDearest said it will combine moze's Roblox development and operating skills with its own experience in game development, managing intellectual property and the North American market. It plans to support companies and rights holders from planning through running a game, and to release titles across Roblox, Steam and VR.

Game Business Japan listed four aims for the deal: end-to-end Roblox support for companies and rights holders, releasing MyDearest's own characters and stories across Roblox, Steam and VR, expanding overseas and especially in North America, and growing enterprise services by combining Roblox development with the XR Kaigi conference and Mogura NEXT consulting that came with Mogura's merger. It said MyDearest's VR games have passed 3 million cumulative players, about 70% of them in the United States.

The founders and the funding

Yokoi and Matsusako started moze together in 2023. Yokoi said in the announcement, in Japanese, that he decided on the deal because he felt moze's work could develop further with the MyDearest team. Matsusako said moze Studios becomes part of MyDearest and will move forward together with it.

The sources reviewed do not report moze's headcount, its revenue, or any outside funding, and the release lists MyDearest's capital as not shown. A figure for MyDearest's funding that appears on an aggregator site was not confirmed in the company's release, so it is not used here.

What happens to customers

MyDearest told existing business partners that services will not change. Because moze is to be absorbed, partners will eventually deal with MyDearest directly, although the companies did not say when. The moze studio brand continues for now under Matsusako.
