Navan, the business travel and expense company, said on September 14, 2026 that it had acquired BoomPop, an AI platform for planning corporate meetings and events. Terms were not disclosed.
Navan plans to fully integrate BoomPop's team and technology into its own platform, adding meetings and events to its products for travel, expenses and payments. It said the deal will not have a material effect on its previously issued financial guidance.
The acquisition follows a partnership between the two companies announced earlier in 2026.
What BoomPop built
Healey Cypher and Blake Hudelson founded BoomPop in early 2023. It is headquartered in the San Francisco Bay Area. Its software handles event planning from start to finish, including venue and vendor sourcing, hotel room blocks, contracts and payments, as well as itineraries, guest websites and RSVPs.
BoomPop says it has supported events for about 250,000 people at companies including Accenture, Amazon, Google, Salesforce and Shopify, ranging from gatherings of around 15 people to conferences with thousands of attendees. It estimates that customers have cut booking-related event costs by about 30% on average.
Its AI draws on data such as hotel pricing, flight schedules, weather and city-wide events, combined with itineraries from past gatherings, to design multi-day offsites. The company also runs an in-house events agency, BoomPop Studio.
“We built BoomPop to make work functions less work, and our partnership with Navan showed us how much bigger that idea gets when travel and events live together.”
How the business grew
By late 2025 BoomPop said it had arranged more than 60,000 hotel nights for clients including Google, Dick's Sporting Goods, Tesa, Bill.com, Forrester and SVB, and that offsites, retreats and client-facing events were its fastest-growing segment. Its software was built for both professional planners and employees who organise events on top of their main jobs, with features such as destination exploration, contract management and round-the-clock guest support.
Alongside its 2025 funding it hired Craig Dooley, formerly head of SDI's global corporate meetings and incentive travel practice, to run BoomPop Studio, and Indrajit Bavan, a travel technology veteran of Expedia, Fareportal and Microsoft, as vice president of partnerships.
BoomPop has said its system can design a complex multi-day offsite in minutes rather than the weeks such planning usually takes. Once a plan is chosen, the software books pre-vetted vendors and keeps guest details aligned across hotels and venues, which is the kind of work Navan already does for individual business trips.
Why Navan is buying
Navan sees meetings and events as a large opportunity because much corporate event spending still happens outside centrally managed tools. Combining events with travel would let a company book flights and hotels, manage venues and vendors, pay suppliers and reconcile expenses in one place.
"We built BoomPop to make work functions less work, and our partnership with Navan showed us how much bigger that idea gets when travel and events live together," said Cypher, BoomPop's co-founder and chief executive. He said customers would get one partner for everything from a ten-person offsite to a 500-person global sales kick-off.
Navan has grown through acquisitions before, including Reed & Mackay, Comtravo, Tripeur and Smartrips.
The founders and the funding
In November 2025 BoomPop announced $41 million in new funding led by Wing VC, of which $25 million was equity and $16 million was debt and credit from Silicon Valley Bank. Atomic, Acme, Four Rivers, Thayer Investment Partners, the Fund of Operators Guild and Gaingels also took part, as did individual backers including Alex Rodriguez.
Cypher said at the time that the company's mission was to be the default way the world gets together. Hudelson, the chief product officer, described group travel as the last frontier of travel technology because it is far more complex than booking for one person.
A busy market for corporate travel software
Corporate events have become a contested space for travel and spend management companies. BoomPop's 2025 funding announcement cited industry data showing that events and entertainment are often the second-largest budget category for hybrid teams after payroll. By buying rather than building, Navan gets a product already used by large enterprise customers and a team that has spent three years on the problem.
