Yext, the New York-listed marketing platform, said on September 30, 2026 that it had signed a definitive agreement to acquire Flamel.ai, an AI marketing startup that runs localised paid campaigns for franchise and multi-location brands on Google, Meta and ChatGPT. It announced the deal at Envision, its customer conference.
Yext did not disclose the price. It expects to pay with cash on hand, and the transaction is expected to close in the fourth quarter of its 2027 fiscal year, which ends on January 31, 2027, subject to customary closing conditions.
Flamel.ai founder and chief executive Paul Ehlinger said the team was looking forward to joining Yext. The announcement did not say whether the Flamel.ai brand will continue.
What Flamel.ai built
Ehlinger, a former investor at Allos Ventures, founded Flamel in the autumn of 2022 with chief technology officer Derek Whitley. It started in Covington, in the Cincinnati area, as an AI-generated content studio that could produce a Facebook or Instagram post, text and image together, in seconds, without templates.
The company later focused on franchisors and franchisees. Its platform is designed for brands with hundreds or thousands of locations: the brand team sets campaigns and guidelines once, and the software adapts each campaign to every local market, setting targeting, budget and creative per location, with location-level reporting. It now covers ChatGPT as an ad channel as well as Google and Meta.
“Every marketer knows the frustration of paying for a click they would have earned anyway.”
Why Yext is buying
Yext manages listings, reviews, web pages and social content for brands with many locations. Its Scout product measures how each location shows up against local competitors in traditional and AI search. Once the deal closes, Yext plans to feed that data into Flamel's models, so that agents in its new multiplayer agent harness can direct ad spend to the locations that are falling behind and check ad claims against verified Yext data.
Multi-location brands often split paid budgets evenly or by region and past spend, Yext said, which means paying for visibility where a location already leads and underinvesting where competitors are winning.
"Every marketer knows the frustration of paying for a click they would have earned anyway," said Michael Walrath, Yext's chairman and chief executive. He said bringing paid media into Yext would let marketers spend where it changes the outcome.
"What excites us most about joining Yext is the depth of data they have across every location - that's exactly what our models need to make sharper decisions for brands," Ehlinger said. He said combining that visibility with Flamel's execution would let brands invest where it actually moves results.
Yext describes itself as an enterprise agentic marketing platform built on a large structured data set for local businesses. Its API-first architecture connects that data to APIs, MCP servers and generative interfaces, and it serves brands in financial services, healthcare, retail, hospitality and food.
The founders and the funding
In January 2023 Flamel announced a $2 million pre-seed round led by Dundee Ventures of Omaha, Nebraska, with participation from Allos Ventures and Elevate Ventures of Indianapolis, the Flywheel Fund of Bloomington, Indiana, and others. At the time it was opening a private beta to more than 100 brands.
Matt Shandy, a principal at Dundee, said then that Flamel would let anyone generate high-quality content at scale. No later funding rounds were disclosed.
When it raised its pre-seed round, Flamel planned to add radio ads and TikTok videos to its Facebook and Instagram posts; Ehlinger said video was the hardest technical lift. Dundee Ventures, which also has a presence in St. Louis and had backed Cincinnati startup Amify, said in 2021 that it was raising a $50 million fund to invest in Midwest startups.
What happens to customers
Paid media will join search, listings, reviews, web pages and social as channels Yext customers can manage in one place. Yext has not said how Flamel's existing franchise customers will be moved onto its platform.
