saas.group, the software company acquirer founded in 2017, has bought 3D AI Studio, a browser-based tool that uses AI to turn a written prompt or a single image into a 3D model. The deal is saas.group's 27th acquisition. Its press release carries a Heilbronn, Germany dateline of October 22, 2026, and the announcement was posted on the company's blog on October 26, the same day TechEdge AI reported it; 3D Adept followed on October 27.
Neither side disclosed the price or other financial terms.
Founder and chief executive Jan Hammer said nothing changes for existing users for now, and that the deal is about what the product can become with a larger team. The announcement does not set out his role after the acquisition.
What 3D AI Studio built
3D AI Studio was founded in 2024. It lets users create a 3D model from a text description or a single image within seconds, directly in a web browser, without a graphics card or any local software. The company says the output is ready for production use.
Beyond generation, the product covers AI retexturing of existing models and export to the formats used by Blender, Unity, Unreal and Three.js, as well as files for 3D printing. It also offers Flow, a node-based builder for chaining steps into repeatable workflows.
Its customers include game developers, product designers, creative studios and 3D printing hobbyists. According to saas.group, more than 1.9 million creators in over 25 countries have registered, and together they have generated more than 4 million assets.
“Jan has built something genuinely rare: a profitable, self-funded AI product that over a million creators around the world actually use.”
A one-person company
Hammer built the company almost entirely by himself, working from a small town in Germany, the release said. It does not name the town or give a headcount for 3D AI Studio.
In the announcement, Hammer said he started the product because he wanted a way to get from an idea to a usable 3D asset in seconds, and that it grew faster than one person could manage. He described the sale process as fast and open, and said joining saas.group gives him a team and Tim Schumacher, saas.group's founding partner, to learn from.
3D AI Studio did not raise outside money. saas.group describes it as profitable and self-funded, and no investors are named in the announcement or the coverage.
Why saas.group is buying
saas.group buys established software businesses and says it uses a founder-friendly process to develop both the products and the people behind them. It was set up in 2017 by serial tech entrepreneurs and now has more than 400 team members across over 25 countries. Its portfolio spans online marketing, HR, developer tools and customer experience software, and earlier acquisitions include Tower, Rewardful, Prerender, Juicer, Seobility and Timebutler.
Schumacher said Hammer had built a profitable AI product with a large user base almost single-handedly and at speed. He argued that 3D content creation is being rebuilt from scratch and said saas.group would give Hammer the platform and staff to keep the product near the front of that shift.
The deal adds a generative AI product to a portfolio that saas.group otherwise describes in terms of marketing, HR, developer and customer experience software. It also brings in a business that, by the buyer's account, is already profitable, which fits a group that buys working software companies rather than funding early bets.
What happens to users
Hammer said that for users nothing changes on the day of the deal, and that the difference will be in what the company can build next. The announcement gives no plans for pricing, product changes or integration with other saas.group products.
Hammer said joining saas.group means he will have a team behind him to build the product properly. Schumacher said saas.group would supply both the platform and the people to do so, though neither side gave figures for hiring or investment.
